Cherry ka Bagicha, 1983, National School of Drama, New DelhiA Hindi version of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. For this production, Schechner worked closely with the professional actors of the Repertory Theatre of India’s National School of Drama. The environmental setting — a complete small house and a surrounding grove of small trees – was designed by Nissar Allana working closely with Schechner. The production took place inside the house which was microphoned, in the orchard, behind the theatre in a yard ringed with lights for the party in the third act. Spectators followed the action from locale to locale.
