Hamlet: That Is the Question

An international collaboration between ECA and Shanghai Theatre Academy, using intermedial methods to examine Shakespeare’s text. In this production, Hamlet and Horatio are lovers — with Horatio recording Hamlet’s story, as the Prince asked him to do. Ophelia is rejected by Hamlet and controlled by her father Polonius. The play-within-the-play, The Mousetrap, is performed by child Chinese opera players. The production, in Mandarin, toured to Poland and Romania.
